Summer is a time for me to be less present online to spend more time connecting with my family and explore the beautiful world around me. This past month has been a whirlwind of amazing experiences and precious time with my family. I was able to visit my family in Holland and overeat on all the tasty food and treats from my childhood. We visited different regions in Holland during our trip including a long weekend in Amsterdam. I’ll have to share more about our travels in another blog post! Any aspects of our trip you’re most curious about?
About a week and a half ago, we also brought home our new pet, a 10 week old kitten named Rocket. We haven’t had a pet in three years after we lost our beloved dog to canine cancer. The kids had been asking for months and we finally agreed it was the right time. In fact, my husband made the deal official with our daughter back in fall of 2017! Instead of hearing another no, he told her “sure, we can get another pet… in 2 years!” Some kids may have been disappointed or frustrated with that response but our daughter recognized that now she had a “yes” and just had to negotiate down the 2 years. :0)
As part of the kids’ Christmas gifts, we decided to give them an official certificate to cut their waiting time to only 6 months. They were beyond excited! It made sense to wait to add a kitten to our family until after our big trip and for them to have lots of time during summer break to play and bond with their new pet.
But you can imagine how many times they asked me “when can we get our new kitten?” on the long flight home. In any case, we’re all thrilled and so excited with our cute kitty! We’re lucky to have found him at the Oregon Humane Society as a second chance pet.
I’m opening up my etsy shop again and yes, 100% of proceeds are going towards new kitten toys!! Ha! Thanks for your support!
